Holy Handouts by YOU!

So I had a fun idea the other day-

While I do love making these handouts, the process of picking the handout content is completely my own decision, and perhaps sometimes it doesn't quite fit the direction of your lesson.  Furthermore, there are quite a lot of creative people out there with great ideas, but don't quite have the resources to see those ideas through.  Hence, I am sure there are quite a lot of you out there with wonderful ideas for handouts, yet you don't have the time/software/know-how to put it all together.

Essentially, I'd love to hear your suggestions for future handouts!  Yours just may get chosen and made into a genuine Holy Handout!  I do want to make it clear that this isn't any kind of contest or drawing, just fellow members of the church helping each other out with our lessons on Sunday, so no need to enter your name anywhere or tell 500 people in order to be considered or anything :)  Plus as an added bonus, this helps you prepare well ahead of time for your upcoming lessons, giving you more time to ponder and study the topic.

Just a few rules that I made for myself when creating handouts, as to keep it within the guidelines given to us from the Church:
1. I normally try to keep most of the handouts centered around Christ.

2. I normally try to use content directly from the lesson, or from the suggested materials listed on the side bar.  Scriptures or General Authority quotes on the topic are also great.

3. I'm not really into the thing where you cleverly work in a candy bar name or twinkie into the handout. That's just not quite my style.

4. I like to incorporate a fun graphic or illustration somehow (though I have been a bit slacking as of late on this.  Blame it on an influx of commission work and side projects).

I'd love to hear your ideas!   If you have a suggestion, feel free to fill out the small questionnaire bellow and send it to lili.ribs@gmail.com.  I think this will be a fun adventure, I'm looking forward to hearing from you!

Currently, I will be taking suggestions for Young Women Manual 1 Lessons 15-20.

Explain your idea here (please include links to the text source):

  1. I have loved everything you have done. It always fits perfectly into my lesson. Your choice of quotes is always spot on. I always look forward to seeing your newest creation.

  2. I love your style and the things you have chosen to work on! They are just so pretty! However, I do wish that you had some things for Relief Society or Sunday School lessons, or Visiting Teaching. And General Conference quotes. :)

  3. You are so talented! Thank you for sharing with us. We are on lesson 17 in our ward and we havent't skipped any! We still have lessons for 5th Sundays and I'm wondering if that is where we have gotten ahead. Is there anyway that you could do a couple of lessons? I bet we are't the only ones that are missing out on your cute handouts!

  4. I too love all the amazing handouts you create!! I always check your blog for ideas, but I'm ahead on lessons too, I'm on #20 already (we did combine a couple because of 5th Sunday's). Anyways my idea might not be what you're looking for but we're wanting to incorporate The For the Strength of Youth book standards into our opening exercise. I would love to have a small handout that goes along with each standard to help them remember through out the week. I do some sort of handout with each lesson and a lot of the girls put them on their mirrors or on their walls, it's awesome to see.

  5. I'm teaching Lesson 17 on May 20th, did you create one for that already? I didn't see it. If not, could you please!!! My topic is about Covenants & Ordinances. I was just put into YW's presidency and have never been in this type of position before, so any help would be awesome! Love your stuff!

  6. It's not a suggestion or anything, but I just have to take a second to say THANK YOU. I've almost completely given up on the other idea websites because I just can do the candy bar thing. I love that your handouts are Christ centered and serve to highlight the points of the lesson, not just trinkets. Not to mention that aesthetically, I just love them. Keep going!!

  7. I absolutely LOVE all your handouts and so do my little Beehives! :) Thank you so very much for taking the time out of your schedule to make these for people like me who are graphically challenged ;) We are on lesson 34 this upcoming sunday, I'm not sure if other wards on on that one as well though.

  8. I love your handouts. I think you are providing an amazing service for the church. Really, I cannot express my gratitude to your generosity enough. It is so important for these YW girls to have fun, feel the spirit and want to come to church and activities. Your handouts really help me provide that for them because I have NO skills! Thank you for helping me do my calling. thank you for helping the girls in my ward have cute, meaningful decorations and handouts. I really appreciate you so so much!
I am using a lot of your stuff for an Evening in Excellence that is next week. I thought one thing that would be cool is a poster for each of the reasons we complete the values:
    strengthen home and family
    make and keep sacred covenants
receive the ordinances of the temple
    enjoy the blessings of exaltation

We are focusing on those four topics at our program and I think they are really important. They are why we have the values and are our ultimate goals in YW.

  9. I LOVE your handouts!!!! I appreciate that you focus on the meaning and not just a clever play on words.

I would like to take a little packet of General Conference supplies around to my Laurels this week. Any chance that you might be able to make a form that helps them focus on what they hear? In April I found one that I liked, but it's been removed.

Thanks for all that you do, you are amazing!!!

  10. I will be teaching in 2 weeks lesson #39 drug abuse. I'm having a hard time coming up with a handout!! It's a tough subject. Part of the lesson says to give each girl a list with all these drugs listed on it and I do not feel right about it so I wanted to come up with something different but will still help them remember the lesson and importance of being clean and not doing drugs.
